Gary Clark Junior May 2005

Gary playing at Mayfest along Trinity Park in Fort Worth.  When I told my wife I wanted to go down to Mayfest to see Gary she asked "Is that the only band you want to see?  We are going down to just see one band?"  I told her, yes, and she was a little surprised but decided to go along.  We got down there just before the band started and we were 2 of about 15 people hanging around to see the band.  Kind of sad, really, but afterwards my wife told me she could see why I wanted to come.  Gary had his folks with him on the trip and they sold his self-released CDs on the side.  I asked if I could take their picture, too.  They were amused, but I'm glad I did.  It just shows what can come from humble beginnings.  Travelling up to a gig with your folks to play a fest with a handful of people watching to touring the world playing with mega-stars.  It can and does happen and I'm glad it happened to Gary.
